I had the chance to interview PopCap’s development team about the exciting new project, in between my runs of restocking Sunflowers in my home garden, and frantically trying to stop those new Barrel Zombies from flashing everyone in town. In fact, the exciting social and “flower defense” hybrid has just gone live on Facebook as of this morning, so if you’re really feeling short on those brain waves, then you know right where to find them. Zombies Adventures, PopCap’s new social take on their beloved Plants vs. It has been ported to numerous systems, including the Xbox 360, PS3, iOS, Android and handhelds, and has spawned a range of Plants vs Zombies merchandise.Unless somebody happened to sneak up to your lawn recently and have a snack on your brains, then you’ve probably been aware of Plants vs. The original Plants vs Zombies is a successful tower defence game released on PC in 2009. "We know gamers have been clamouring for new ways to play and compare their PvZ prowess with friends - and now they can do that for the first time!" "We're thrilled to bring new 'Adventures' to Plants vs Zombies fans around the world, challenging them to use new strategies to defeat zombies as they come from all directions in a range of cool new settings," explained PopCap's Curt Bererton It also introduces multi-directional play, as well as new power-ups, including the Zombie Zapper, Gardening Glove and Dynamite. In addition to new zombie and plant types, players can send hordes of zombies to Facebook friends and compete for high scores in brand new leaderboards.

The game, which has been in closed beta for the past two months, shifts the action away from the backyard and into countless new locations.
